RSS Feed Viewer

Paste a feed URL or the feed XML and read it the way a person would: titles, dates, authors, and each item as an article. Prettify reads RSS 2.0, Atom, and RSS 1.0, shows the raw XML and a tree beside it, and keeps images off until you ask for them.

Read a feed as articles

The Feed view lists every item with its title, link, author, and date, and shows the item body as formatted text. Links open in a new tab. A feed with thousands of items opens quickly: the view shows the first 200 and says how many there are.

Podcast and news feeds often carry artwork in separate elements rather than in the item text. The Feed view reads iTunes, Media RSS, and Atom artwork and shows it beside each item when images are on.

Load from a URL and refresh it

Paste the feed address and Prettify fetches it straight from your browser. If the site blocks requests from other pages, Prettify asks before it sends the address through a public proxy. The tab is named after the feed.

With Pro, Refresh fetches the latest version from the same address. Unchanged content says so; new content becomes a new version, so you can compare it with the last one.

Images stay off until you load them

An image in a feed is a request to someone else's server, and that server sees your IP address and when you opened the feed. Some feeds include tracking pixels for exactly that reason. Prettify shows a placeholder for each image until you choose Load images, and the choice applies to one feed in one tab.

What is free and what is Pro

Loading a feed from a URL, the tree and raw XML views, validation, and conversion to JSON are free. The Feed view and Refresh from URL are Pro, and each has one free try per day in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is the RSS feed viewer free?

Loading a feed, the tree and raw XML views, and conversion to JSON are free with no sign-up. The Feed view, which shows items as articles, and Refresh from URL are Pro. Each has one free try per day in your browser.

Is my feed sent to a server?

Prettify fetches the feed address directly from your browser and parses it on your device. Only if the site blocks that request does Prettify offer a public proxy, and it asks first.

Does it read Atom and RSS 1.0 feeds?

Yes. RSS 2.0, Atom 1.0, and RSS 1.0 (RDF) feeds all open in the same Feed view, with titles, links, dates, authors, and content.

Why are images turned off?

Each image request shows the image host your IP address and when you read the feed, and some feeds include tracking pixels. Images load only when you choose Load images, for one feed at a time.

Does the feed refresh on its own?

No. A feed refreshes only when you choose Refresh, which is a Pro feature. Nothing runs in the background.
