Markdown Preview
See your Markdown rendered, and edit it right in the Preview like a document. Headings, lists, tables, links, and code blocks render as readers will see them, and the frontmatter shows as a card you can edit field by field. Nothing leaves your browser.
A preview you can type in
Most Markdown previews are read-only: you edit the source on one side and watch the result on the other. In Prettify the Preview is the editor. Click into a paragraph to fix a typo, add a list item, or change a heading, and the Markdown source follows.
The Preview keeps your text exactly as you wrote it. If a document uses syntax that the Preview cannot write back unchanged, it opens read-only with a notice, and you edit that document in the Raw view instead.
Frontmatter and large files
YAML frontmatter at the top of a file shows as a Properties card above the content. Edit each field in place, switch true and false values with a checkbox, or open the card as YAML to edit the block as text.
Any file size opens in the Preview. Files up to 200 KB are editable. A larger file shows a read-only Preview that loads as you scroll, so a long changelog or an exported wiki page still opens quickly.
Pro: Side by side, Outline, and diagrams
Pro puts the Raw view and the Preview next to each other, both editable and in sync. The Outline lists the headings beside the Preview, and a click jumps to one. With Mermaid in Markdown, mermaid code blocks show as diagrams. Each Pro feature has one free try per day.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit Markdown in the preview?
Yes. The Preview is a WYSIWYG editor, and your changes go back into the Markdown source. When a document has syntax the Preview cannot keep exactly, it opens read-only and says so.
Does the preview show Mermaid diagrams?
Yes, with Mermaid in Markdown, a Pro feature: mermaid code blocks show as diagrams in the Preview. You can try it free once a day.
Is the Markdown preview free?
Yes. The Preview, the Raw view, Prettier formatting, and the Properties card for frontmatter are free with no sign-up. Pro, a one-time purchase, adds Side by side, the Outline, Mermaid diagrams, Skill Check, and export.
Can I export the preview as HTML or PDF?
Export is a Pro feature. HTML export works on the web and in the macOS app; PDF export works on the web only.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The Preview renders in your browser, and the file stays on your device. Only creating a share link sends data, and only when you choose to.
